Our Employees

We are an international company built on science and driven by people. Being an employee in Bavarian Nordic means being a part of an inspiring and diverse working environment where you can get influence and develop yourself both professionally and personally.

Read below how some of our employees describe what they find unique by working at Bavarian Nordic.

Rikke

I joined Bavarian Nordic back in 2020 and my current role as QSC Manager, within QA, consists of multiple tasks with lots of variation, supporting our manufacturing site from a QA perspective, ensuring inspection readiness and achievement of strategy goals. With this role I have the possibility to learn about lot of our processes and collaborate with all areas on site. And do not forget the opportunity to learn and work with all employees on site no matter position or level.

By promoting standards and quality guidance to our manufacturing departments, I´m proud to be a part of the BN workforce, where I can see our hard work is paid off by ensuring life-threatening vaccines to the entire world. The impact that we do is crucial to health of the world population – this makes me proud.

For me BN has given me an opportunity to grow and develop in a direction that supports my development and career plan. With the possibility to develop into new areas and with position changes across the organization. Along my journey at BN, which started back in 2020 within Supply Chain Management to now in QA Operation, I have had the pleasure to work with management teams that support and lead the employees, to achieve not only company goals, but also recognized and supported the individual development plans. I my current passion, I´m the proud colleague to a unique management team, that support one another, ensure I continue my learnings and thrive in my daily work life.

Christopher

I'm Christopher, half-Greek and half-Danish, born and raised in Greece. I moved to Copenhagen to pursue my undergraduate studies, followed by my graduate degree. I first joined Bavarian Nordic as an intern during my mandatory internship semester in January 2022, and I have been with the company ever since.

What truly motivates me at Bavarian Nordic is the supportive environment that encourages me to challenge the status quo. From my very first day, rather than being limited by my lack of experience, I was encouraged to speak up and share ideas on potential improvements. Moreover, during my course in the organization my managers have shown trust in me, which has enabled me to take ownership of various projects and has contributed to both my professional and personal growth.

Andriana

With a PhD in Molecular Biology (Glycobiology) and a strong foundation in organic chemistry and mass spectrometry, my career until joining Bavarian Nordic was entirely in academia. Transitioning into industry has been an exciting journey, and my role as a Raw Material Senior Professional in the In-Process Raw Material team has offered exactly the kind of challenge and engagement I was looking for. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities related to all kinds of liquid and solid raw materials that support our vaccine production. I enjoy the constant collaboration with stakeholders across departments, but also within the Material Support team, and the problem-solving nature of my work, which keeps me engaged and continuously learning.

I’m proud to be part of a team that truly complements each other’s strengths. Our ability to support one another and adapt to different needs within the Material Support team is something I value deeply. The inspiring leadership and strong team spirit make it easy to stay motivated and knowing that my work contributes directly to improving human health through our life-saving vaccines gives me a strong sense of purpose.

Bavarian Nordic is a place where collaboration, innovation, and personal growth are truly encouraged. The supportive environment and the opportunity to make a real impact in the field of vaccine development make it unique. It’s a company where I genuinely look forward to coming to work every day, knowing I’m part of something meaningful and surrounded by passionate, talented colleagues.

Openness and speed are how I would describe Bavarian Nordic. This also means that you should embrace yourself for a journey, but a journey you can help design. One of the key motivators for me in this high-speed journey is the culture around openness and the fact that ideas and new thought are encouraged and listened to. This is an important trait for a company moving forward

“In all of this there is a strong feeling of togetherness.”

In all of this there is a strong feeling of togetherness. Togetherness because no one stands alone. No matter where you are in the organizational structure, you pitch in. This is not only the case for a team or department, however the support from cross functional alignments is also contributing to success stories.

I started at Bavarian Nordic in 2020 and from the very first day I felt the speed – the speed to do more, to want more. Building the commercial system landscape was in focus and we all ran – jointly – with the ball. Me as a project manager and my team members with all the knowledge.

Since then, I have moved to a manager role, where I thrive today. Development is something that happens in al layers of Bavarian Nordic and that is discussed openly. Recently two of my employees moved to new roles in Bavarian Nordic, because the fit was right, and it made sense. Development possibilities are definitely there and something that is encouraged from a company side.

Ina

I started at Bavarian Nordic as a consultant in May 2016 and have since worked across almost every area of Drug Substance (DS). In May 2022 I became a permanent employee and in April 2024 I stepped into my current role as Manager in DS Local MSAT.

I have a passion for developing people and building strong, resilient teams. I value collaboration, meeting deadlines and, above all, helping people realise their potential. I love working across departments and disciplines, jumping into new things, learning new skills and challenging myself when tasks risk becoming too routine.

As Pippi Longstocking puts it: “I have never done it before, so of course I can do it!”, that’s the spirit I bring.

Bavarian Nordic feels unique to me because, even though we’re a large company, it still feels small and offers great opportunities if you take them. In my team we work on long-term solutions that can make a real difference for production, and by strengthening cross-functional collaboration, we can become even stronger as a company.
